20 proyectos concebidos para espacios arquitectónicos y urbanos ofrecen otra visión de la pintura más allá del bastidor y de la tela

Tras cuatro años de su primera individual en Venezuela (Las tres Calaveras, 2006), Jaime Gili retorna al país con la exposición JAIME GILI AFUERA, a presentarse a partir del 28 de noviembre, a las 11:00 am en Periférico Caracas / Arte Contemporáneo. Residenciado en Londres desde 1996, el artista exhibe en esta ocasión una selección de bocetos, proyectos, maquetas, planos, fotografías y algunas pinturas concebidas para edificios corporativos, espacios públicos, residencias privadas y medios de transporte de distintas localidades del país y el extranjero.

Entre los 20 trabajos en exhibición se encuentra el proyecto ganador del concurso internacional para intervenir 16 tanques de gasolina en Portland, Maine, Estados Unidos (2008) imágenes de la monumental intervención en los espacios del centro Bloomberg, en Londres, Inglaterra (2009) y  El Diamante de las semillitas, intervención mural  realizada en el Barrio José Félix Rivas de Petare en Caracas (2009) con el apoyo de la Alcaldía del Municipio Sucre.  Se añaden al conjunto sendos murales y una instalación serigráfica sobre vidrio, piezas concebidas específicamente para esta muestra.

Enfrascado en una revisión de la tradición geométrica, el trabajo de Gili se distingue por su vigorosa cromaticidad. Según indica el curador Jesús Fuenmayor Gili ha detectado “(…) cómo las artes cinéticas habían sido asimiladas desde lo popular. A partir de un híbrido entre la herencia cinética y sus interpretaciones populares, Gili ha producido el cuerpo de obra pictórica abstracto-geométrica más relevante de su generación”. La suya es una pintura expansiva que no se limita al bastidor y la tela, proponiendo un diálogo frontal con la escena urbana y arquitectónica, al tiempo que se incorpora a la dinámica de los soportes móviles como autobuses, motocicletas, trenes y peñeros.

La exposición JAIME GILI AFUERA podrá ser visitada hasta el domingo 30 enero de 2011, en horario de martes a domingo de 11 am a 7 pm. Periférico Caracas/ Arte Contemporáneo está ubicado en el Centro de Arte Los Galpones, número 29-11 de la Avenida Ávila con Octava Transversal de los Chorros. Los teléfonos son 2854394 y 2861297.
